Once more, sustainable fashion is under Cittadellarte’s spotlight: next week, from 9th to 11th April, the spaces of Fondazione Pistoletto will be the “active” background for the shooting of a film highlighting and illustrating the development and productive process of a “sustainable dress” realized with materials sourced in forests. Behind the cameras of this project are UN Live United Nations Web TV and UNECE/FAO (and specifically the Forestry and Timber Section of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe). Cittadellarte Fashion B.E.S.T Studios will be the main location for the shooting, an extremely suitable context to shoot a film on sustainable fashion.
B.E.S.T. is in fact an operative laboratory which has been committed to the development of sustainability within the textile sector since 2009, with a specific project centred on three essential elements: the productive excellence of the Biellese territory and the world renowned Made in Italy, Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto’s intrinsic artistic creativity, the commitment towards a transformation of society in a responsible and sustainable way. Fashion B.E.S.T., besides gathering in a platform dozens of fashion companies producing sustainable fabrics, yarns and accessories, organizes and promotes meetings and events aiming at raising awareness about sustainable consumption, takes part in international work groups and leads seminars and educational studies (e.g. “The Rooms of Sustainable Fashion”, the event held at Cittadellarte last October).

But back to the short film, here are the protagonists: the fashion designer Tiziano Guardini, creator of clothes made of natural and eco-sustainable materials and fabrics, who will realize the exclusive dress for Michelle Yeoh. The Malesian actress is known for her roles in well-known action movies like Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2, The Lady, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Memoirs of a Geisha, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, 007 Tomorrow Never Dies; and the TV series Marco Polo and Star Trek: Discovery.

The short film will tell the “story of forests” through the supply chain and the process of creative design, ending with the realization of the dress. The film, whose contents are linked to the UN 17 Goals of Sustainable Development, wants to demonstrate the importance of forests in the sector of sustainable fashion, presenting the spectator with a conscious and harmonic vision of the relationship between environment, ethics and fashion.
The film will be shown for the first time at the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development held from 10th to 19th July at the UN New York headquarters. On that occasion, Yaoh herself will wear the dress designed by Guardini. The video will also be shared on the communication channels of UNECE, FAO and Cittadellarte.
