Franco Berrino, Carlo Petrini and Michelangelo Pistoletto: three of the greatest Italian minds gathered in a single event. This will be on the occasion of the conference “The Three Oaks – The road to wisdom for a better world”, in programme on 15th March and coordinated by “La Grande Via”, “Slow Food” and “Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto”, an event which has three exceptional guests as protagonists: Berrino, doctor and founder of the association “La Grande Via”; Petrini, sociologist and founder of the association “Slow Food”; and Pistoletto, the artist from Biella. The initiative will be held at 20.00 in the lecture hall “Cavallerizza” of the University of Turin, at via Giuseppe Verdi 9. Moderator of the talk will be the Rebirth / Third Paradise ambassadress Eija Tarkiainen, who will weave together the threads of words spun by the three special guests.
In the course of the event we will have the opportunity to hear the speeches of three “masters” who, through their past actions, have been able to change the present, working to responsibly mould the future. They are figures engaged in spheres apparently distant from one another, but sharing and pursuing the same objectives of a virtuous transformation of society. Comparing Berrino, Petrini and Pistoletto to three oaks conveys their authority; the imposing posture of the tree best represents their past experiences, while their branches and leaves can metaphorically envelope the participants in the evening of the 15th March with their notions. Feeding people with their wisdom, they will generate sprouts of knowledge which will in turn graft other virtuous actions for the common good.
In regards to the contents, the conference will combine three macro-sectors, active background of our daily lives. On one hand we have the scientific knowledge and the wisdom traditions, on the other the acting in respect of the Planet and, finally, the ability to conjugate creative freedom and responsibility. These social topics are linked to the “thee oaks” protagonists of the evening, who will talk about the health of the individual, of the Planet and of the society, highlighting and explaining what means and actions are able to trigger a responsible change. What are the objectives of the initiative? “The conference – we read on the event’s Facebook page – aims at facilitating and strengthen the following qualities: trust in the action of the single individual; courage to break the boundaries of set habits in favour of more beneficial new habits; ability to share and collaborate; generosity in spreading personal knowledge; passion for one’s own vision and vocation; individual responsibility at the service of the collectivity”.
According to ancient Roman symbolism, the oak branch represented strength, courage, dignity and perseverance, virtues that Berrino, Petrini and Pistoletto have made their own and keep developing.
On the background of the University of Turin, the three “masters” are ready to teach a special lesson. Subject of the day? Responsible life.
The cost to take part in the conference is €20 (not refundable). Required reservation on letrequerce.eventbrite.it.
