“It is an opportunity to talk about culture and active citizenship, as if we were at the tables of the Rebirth Forum” with these words Saverio Teruzzi presented the new cycle of interviews proposed in the context of 10 tables for 100 benches and the project 100 benches for Rome. As reported in our previous article, this is a participatory, socially useful and low-environmental-impact project, which involves the installation of one hundred benches made of recycled plastic in different areas of Rome; in this regard, we remind you that until 30th April it is possible to make a donation – of at least 10 euros – for the collective benches through the crowdfunding campaign on Produzioni dal Basso. With the series of interviews, Saverio gives voice to various actors involved in the Rebirth Forum in Rome and in the related working sites. After the first two episodes – which saw as protagonists the curator of the Museum of the Suburbs Giorgio de Finis and the Rebirth/Third Paradise ambassadress and founder of the startups M’AMA.SEEDS and Slow Flow Alessia Montani – we are now publishing the third interview. On this occasion, the guest is Giulia Ananìa, writer, songwriter and lyricist.
Why invest in culture?
Because it is only by looking for poetry and happiness that we can carry out revolution and change. We must invest in culture because it costs little and gives a lot back in the future. We who make culture must also change our stages, distribute them everywhere, even transform a bench into a stage.
What will be the role of poetry in 2030?
Perhaps the same one it has always had since ancient times, from prehistory to Sappho. It will save us, even if we do not deserve it. In 2030 too poetry will have to hold our heads while we are throwing up because we got drunk at a party celebrating nothing. It will save us.
Can you define Rome?
The only possible cities are the ones we dream of. Rome, you are so dreamt that you are real, I wouldn’t otherwise be able to distinguish the smell of resin mixed with basmati rice. Rome is Bombay Rome, which is neither Rome nor Bombay, neither Milan nor Damascus, neither Beijing nor New York, but the crossroads of all these cities, a set of feelings, laughs, torments, dialects, respects. Only in Bombay Rome we can be happy and fall in love again.
