“Capolavori”, a talk with Michelangelo Pistoletto and Gianna Nannini in Rome Teatro Biblioteca Quarticciolo, in co-production with Zerynthia, presents a cycle of three events combining the exhibition of a work of art with a live reading of the artist's writings, with different participants on each evening. The evening of 4 April will be dedicated to Michelangelo Pistoletto's "Porta rossa – Il Terzo Paradiso" (Red Door – The Third Paradise) and Gianna Nannini's vocal sculpture "Mama". “UNIDEE Grand Tour”, artist Claire Bouffay’s residency dealt with archaeology, sculpture, history of money and territory From October 17 to November 30, Claire Bouffay lived at Cittadellarte and participated in the UNIDEE Labs 2021 as part of the project "Grand Tour" of the Institut Français Italia (IFI) and the Franco-German Youth Office (FGYO). The artist, in a cognitive and inspirational process, explored places and organisations of the Biellese territory linked to her artistic research, shifting her interest between nature and culture, and conducted a study on the history of money and on the experimentation of sculptural processes. TACT, Biella hosts an urban and social regeneration project with a territorial impact TACT (acronym for Territorio Arcipelago Comunità Torrente, i.e. territory, archipelago, community, river) is the winning project of the public notice Creative Living Lab - 3rd edition, promoted by the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture. As part of the initiatives developed by the project, from March onwards the citizens of Biella will be offered moments of discussion open to the public on the themes of environmental fragility and sustainability in general, with meetings, thematic conferences and educational workshops organised by Fondazione Pistoletto, Better Places and cheFare. “Cogli l’attimo, carpe diem, seize the day”, AMACI presents an online study day dedicate to performance The initiative – organised with the support of the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture – is dedicated to performance and its presence in Italian museum collections and archives, and will start at 10 am on Wednesday 23 March 2022. Its programme, which features Michelangelo Pistoletto as one of the speakers, includes seven sessions – focusing on as many themes – which will create an opportunity for direct dialogue between artists, institutions and operators in the cultural sector. Embedded art practice and the future of Biella The last weekly module of last year’s UNIDEE Residency in partnership with Fondazione Zegna was held in December 2021, and saw a group of artists explore the present and imagine the future of tourism in Biella, Oasi Zegna and the “wool” province. In order to give shape to this process, the participants entered into conversation with numerous experts on the themes addressed during the residency: artists from Cittadellarte, the staff of Fondazione Zegna, a hiking guide, a basket maker, a brewer and an expert in wild herbs. The programme of the module also led to an immersive experience around the natural elements of the territory, such as the water of the rivers, the beech trees of the Oasi Zegna, the “carabo d'Olimpia” (a type of beetle) and the snow. “UNIDEE LABS 2021/2022”, when socially engaged art transcends the boundaires of the pandemic Last November, Fondazione Pistoletto hosted a new type of UNIDEE module: for the occasion the participating artists shared and carried out new investigations into their artistic practice under the guidance of a team of international mentors, interfacing with the context of Cittadellarte and the Biellese wool territory in a multi-level process of decontextualisation. Through seminars, meetings, guided tours, collective and individual explorations, the residents delved into the new relations between pandemic and socially engaged art, each with their own creative approach and with the contaminations offered by the organised activities, identifying new methodologies and tools applicable to their own research projects. “Project Etere”, when experimental and collaborative architecture leads to an urban and social renaissance The project, launched in Bali in 2019 in response to the growing urbanisation of the island due to the rapid increase in mass tourism, proposes a new model of real estate development aimed at giving new life to the numerous unfinished or disused buildings that characterise the Indonesian island. The initiative, conceived by Ran Ben-Shaya and Eva Natasa and curated by Bali-based Italian artist and Rebirth/Third Paradise ambassador Marco Cassani, focuses on the role of sustainable architecture in the contemporary era, seeking a balance between necessity and excess, and between essentiality and luxury. The project “Refectory” kicks off in Geneva, when gastronomy meets solidarity On 28 January, the MATER Foundation, chef Walter el Nagar, Food for Soul and chef Massimo Bottura presented the site of the Refectory, located at 120 rue de Lyon, in the Charmilles district. The ceremony was also attended by Giulia Pessina (Cittadellarte communication manager), Olga Pirazzi (Fashion B.E.S.T. manager), Clara Pogliani (Unidee Academy) and Francesco Saverio Teruzzi (coordinator of the Rebirth/Third Paradise ambassadors), who organised and curated the first meeting of the Geneva Demopractic Work and unveiled the work "I Tavoli del Terzo Paradiso". Cittadellarte's Fashion Office, with the collaboration of fashion designer Flavia La Rocca, designed and produced a series of sustainable uniforms to be worn by the cooks and waiting staff.
