12/04/2021 In Biella “+bellezza in Valle” (more beauty in the valley), an award for the landscape improvement of the territory Valle Mosso’s Rotary Club promoted the launch of the initiative aimed at acknowledging and highlighting construction or environmental works carried out in the area of the eastern Biellese valleys. 02/04/2021 The exhibition “Michelangelo Pistoletto’s Truth” at the Museo Comunale d’Arte Moderna di Ascona The monographic exhibition dedicated to the Biellese artist and curated by Mara Folini and Alberto Fiz will be held in the Swiss city from 30th May to 26th September. 31/03/2021 Cittadellarte’s working site, 100 days of work needed for the reconstruction The operations to secure and reconstruct the areas hit by October’s flood are continuing. Emanuele Bottigella from Cittadellarte’s Architecture Office has given us an update on the new phase of works: “The next interventions include the palification, the construction and the filling of the grounds,” he said. 26/03/2021 “Hearts for the Earth”, when children’s art breaks down the barriers of the pandemic The Rebirth/Third Paradise ambassadress and ambassador Savina Tarsitano and Takuya Kaneda started and curated the ethical initiative that led to the creation, in Nikko, of a big canvas composed of the works of children from Cuba, Italy, Nepal, Florida and Belgium. “In this period,” the two curators said, “being united has become a necessity and a duty, and the project, from this point of view, managed to bring together youths and communities from all over the world with a simple heart, going across boundaries and travelling with the imagination”. 24/03/2021 The Art of Balance #97 | Fabio Bortolussi, what will you wear? Fabio Bortolussi, one of the artistic directors of the festival Sexto ‘Nplugged, is the 97th participant in the initiative “The Art of Balance / Pandemopraxy”, launched by Cittadellarte. In his contribution, our guest reflects on the consequences of the pandemic, and in particular on the current social frenzy: “It might be time to slow down our pace, but move faster with our intentions and awareness about the world we live in, about who we are as human beings”. Bortolussi then focuses on the key question of this episode: “We need to value each figure contributing to creating an item of clothing, because it is important to recognise the worth of people and make sure they live and work in dignified conditions”. 15/03/2021 “Community School: the academy for the education community”, the course for Biella’s teachers and educators has started The course, curated by Cittadellarte, Tantintenti, Il Filo da Tessere and Associazionedidee, started on 5th March. The first edition of the initiative – part of the project Community School, promoted by Impresa Sociale Conibambini – aims at identifying and facing the issues arisen during the pandemic, keeping in mind the safety measures that need to be respected in the interest of public health. The art critic, exhibition curator and journalist is the 96th participant in the initiative “The Art of Balance / Pandemopraxy”, launched by Cittadellarte. Alberto Fiz reflects on the impact of Covid-19 on communication processes (“By now, our lives have definitely become hybrid, and our days are rhythmed by emails, WhatsApp messages, Instagram posts, Skype and Zoom calls") and draws attention to the importance a simple encounter might have in the post-pandemic: “Meeting, seeing each other in person, hugging each other won’t be ordinary occurrences taken for granted anymore, they will acquire a more profound and authentic meaning”.
